ABOUT THE ROLE

Hedsor Park is a 100-acre Buckinghamshire estate wrapped round the magnificent Hedsor House and Grade II listed gardens. It is famed for hosting unforgettable weddings and brisk country walks before breakfast. We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Estate Groundskeeper / Gardener / Caretaker to live on site, care for the place like it’s your own, and keep every vista wedding-photo ready.

Day-to-day, you’ll handle estate and grounds care, family support, basic property repairs and first-response security. This role requires a reliable, trustworthy, and proactive individual with experience in estate maintenance and horticulture.

In return, you’ll have accommodation on the estate, a 40-hour week with flex for the odd weekend, and the chance to leave a genuine mark on a historic landscape.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribution to Improvements – Offer input into garden development and landscape enhancements in line with the estate’s long-term vision and design.

  • Driveway Stewardship – Take pride in and oversee the care of the 1km drive leading to Hedsor House, ensuring it remains visually striking and well-kept year-round.

  • Lawn & Grounds Maintenance – Mowing, topiary, hedge cutting, and general landscaping.

  • Machinery Operation & Maintenance – Handling agricultural and garden equipment.

  • Woodland Management – Tree care, logging, and brush clearance.

  • Estate Upkeep – Maintaining outdoor areas, pathways, and grounds.

  • Basic Property Maintenance – Fencing repairs and minor upkeep.

  • Garden & Outdoor Features – Caring for ornaments, furniture, and external installations.

  • Contractor Liaison – Coordinating external support and reporting issues.

  • Security & Safety – First response for estate security concerns.

  • Family & Estate Support – Providing dependable assistance where needed.

  • House & Pet Sitting – Provide house/pet care in the owner’s absence, including occasional support with dogs and other animals.

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Experienced in property or land maintenance and management, ideally from a large estate, hotel grounds, or high-end horticultural background

  • Knowledge and experience of horticulture and woodland management

  • Confident with tools and equipment; able to work independently and take initiative.

  • Experienced in using a tractor

  • Willing to care for geese and cattle

  • Comfortable living in close proximity to a family estate with high standards

  • Friendly, trustworthy and proactive, with strong attention to detail
