Maintenance Manager
Role Overview
Hedsor House & Estate is an award-winning, privately owned wedding and events venue set within nearly 100 acres of grounds, incorporating a Georgian manor house, guest accommodation, outbuildings, estate rental properties and private residences.
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Maintenance Manager to lead all maintenance activity across Hedsor House and the wider estate. This is a senior, hands-on role, requiring strong technical ability, sound judgement, and proven leadership skills.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Maintenance Manager will take responsibility for the delivery, supervision and continuous improvement of all maintenance works, while ensuring the estate remains safe, compliant, well-presented and operational at all times.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for day-to-day supervision of the maintenance team.

Hedsor Main House and guest bedrooms
Outbuildings and operational spaces around the estate
Estate rental properties – Scheduled works with the Estates Manager
Owners’ private residence – Scheduled works with the Estates Manager
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations

Carry out and oversee a wide range of maintenance tasks including:
Plumbing repairs and installations (within competence)
Electrical maintenance and fault finding (within competence)
Painting and decorating to a high standard
Carpentry and joinery repairs
Minor building works including pointing and brickwork
General repairs, fixtures and fittings maintenance
Manage the House and Estate fault log
Ensure all works meet the presentation standards expected of a premium wedding and events venue
Respond to emergency maintenance situations when required
Maintain cleanliness, order and safe working practices across all work areas
Compliance, Safety & Planned Maintenance

Ensure all statutory compliance is maintained and up to date, including (but not limited to):
Gas safety
Electrical safety
Fire safety systems
Water hygiene (e.g. Legionella controls)
Health & Safety legislation
Work closely with the Operations Coordinator to plan, schedule and review all PPM activities.
Monitor contractor performance and compliance documentation alongside the Operations Manager.
Maintain accurate in-house maintenance and compliance records
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
Supervise and manage external contractors and specialists
Provide technical input, recommendations and scope definitions for works
Ensure works are completed safely, on time and to required standards
Liaise professionally with internal teams, tenants, event staff and private residents
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, support and motivate the maintenance team
Allocate and prioritise workloads based on operational needs and event schedules
Deliver annual performance reviews
Ensure all team members work safely and in line with H&S requirements
Act as senior technical escalation point for complex maintenance issues
Budget & Cost Control
Manage maintenance-related purchasing within agreed budgets
Monitor expenditure and identify cost-effective solutions
Provide recommendations for repair vs replacement decisions
Support capital planning through technical advice and condition assessments
Customer Service & Professional Standards
Deliver a high level of service to guests, tenants, colleagues and private residents
Communicate clearly, calmly and professionally in all situations
Represent Hedsor House in a positive and solutions-focused manner
Person Specification
Essential
Within 30/40 mins commutable distance to Hedsor.
Significant hands-on maintenance experience across multiple trades
Proven experience managing or supervising maintenance staff
Strong understanding of Health & Safety and compliance requirements
Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions
Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
Full UK driving licence
Desirable
Formal trade qualification (electrical, plumbing, gas safe, mechanical or similar)
Facilities or estates management experience
Experience working within hospitality, heritage or complex estate environments
Knowledge of plant equipment including boilers and building services
Working Pattern
40 hours per week
Salary
TBC – depending on experience
